Poor Judgement Behind the Wheel and Before the Bench

Anyone who chooses to drink alcohol in excess, become impaired, and then get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle puts others at risk. It’s a dangerous, selfish, and irresponsible decision that can destroy lives. Driving with an alcohol-induced impairment, even slightly over the legal limit, makes that individual a threat to the public.

Families, loved ones, innocent bystanders all put in harm’s way because of one arrogant motorist showing extremely poor judgement.

If you are a medical professional charged with driving under the influence in states like New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, California, and Texas, among others, you can lose your license to practice medicine. A DUI demonstrates poor judgement and a lack of integrity on the part of the offender. Is that someone you can trust with life or death decisions?

Should an attorney charged with a DUI be treated any different? A family attorney, no less?

If you hired an attorney to represent you in a court of law and that attorney had a DUI on his or her record, would you feel you had the right individual fighting for your rights? If that individual made such a bad decision as to put innocent lives in danger while driving under the influence, wouldn’t you ask yourself how many other mistakes this attorney has made. How many mistakes is he or she making with your case?

Now what if that same attorney failed to disclose that he or she has a DUI on their record? Maybe your attorney didn’t think it was important enough to mention, but as a client you may not agree with that assumption.

What else is that attorney concealing from you or from the court?

Sounds like you may have hired the wrong attorney to represent your interests in a court of law and, if your case involves the dissolution of a marriage with all of the emotional and financial stakes that come with that life change, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Spousal support, child custody and parental rights, property division, all of these disputes can have extreme consequences and if your attorney is prone to significantly bad decision-making, you could be regretting it for the rest of your life.

Katie Lewis attorney, a family law practitioner in Dallas, Texas, was arrested and charged with a DUI. This is not something she chooses to disclose to her clients and, right off the bat, any client-attorney relationship with Katie Lewis is built on deception through lying by omission.

These deceptive practices seem to extend to her role as a family law attorney in Dallas.

Previous clients have complained about her conduct and lack of ethics with respect to the cases she chooses to take on, her behavior in the representation of those cases, and the financial consequences to both parties in those matters.

As an attorney, Katie Lewis continues to make poor decisions. Family law cases, particularly divorce proceedings, are routinely settled out of court to prevent both parties and any children from sustaining prolonged emotional suffering.

But not if Katie Lewis has anything to say about it. Evidently, her practice aims to extend the cases in which she is involved, multiple filings and postponements have become a mainstay of her cases as of late. To what end? Judges in most family law matters urge the parties to settle out of court. No one wants to go to trial, especially if younger children or teens are involved.

Katie Lewis does not subscribe to that approach as she chooses instead to file as many motions as it takes to postpone and needlessly draw out a trial. More billing hours puts more money in her pocket, yet it’s a bad decision that hurts her client and all other parties involved in the case, minors and adults alike.

But then, it’s not the first bad decision Katie Lewis has made that could potentially hurt others.

She has already proven she can’t be trusted to make a choice that favors anyone but Katie Lewis. Her DUI is clear proof of that.

These aren’t baseless critiques or accusations, a cursory search online brings up these and other poor reviews from previous clients of Katie Lewis who feel she failed to provide the quality of legal representation she claims to offer.

Now, are you ready to trust her to make the right decision in your family law case that could have long-lasting emotional and financial consequences on you and your loved ones?
